Shopping for your Bridal Gown is daunting
enough, without the issue of" if only it fitted perfectly!"
Unless you have your Gown custom-made for you, as I also do,
then you will either buy a store Gown, take the chance &
purchase online, or wish to wear a vintage Gown, to either alter
for a perfect fit for your body shape & height, or redesign to
create a modern edge. Very rarely does it fit you perfectly, so
consequently the big question is
How
can I find someone I can trust to alter my Gown, so that it
"looks" as if it was "made for me"?The biggest fear in having a
dress altered, let alone your Wedding Gown!.. is the fear that
it will look altered. Let me reassure you, it will not.
With the majority of
Bridal Gowns sold in Australia imported from overseas, when
bought off the rack, it is inevitable, that there will be some
minor alterations required at least. Fabrics may be delicate, or
cumbersome, requiring skills of their own to handle such
dresses.
Common alterations vary
from simple to more substantial alterations that really only a
patternmaker would be trusted with for such an important
occasion, such as.
The hem being uneven or too long,
The shoulder straps or bust line
needs lifting.
Your dress is just a little too
snug or too loose!
The bodice needing refitting, with
perhaps beading removed and reapplied,
The lace skirt is too long, hence
needing removal and redesign,
The skirt needs reshaping. It may
be too full, requiring more petticoats, or needs tapering.
The train too long, or you wish
the train could be bustled!
And so the list goes
on.

whilst in my possession. Upon your completely obligation free
appointment with me, you will receive your alteration quote, and
suggested fitting dates for your Gown and/or your Bridesmaids,
which will be made appropriate to your Wedding date & needs.
